January 16th, 2009

There are a lot of reasons causing hair loss to occur. Often various infections, surgery, physical or emotional stress result in hair shedding. Thyroid disease, drugs for blood rhymes, acne arthritis or heart disease also cause this problem. Pregnancy hair loss as well as hair loss due to using some oral contraceptives is very common among women. During pregnancy hair loss within the first three months a woman loses her hair rapidly. In this case, the hair loss process is observed on a pregnant woman. A poor diet, low in protein and iron is a hair loss cause. People with eating disorders, such as bulimia or anorexia, experience hair loss process. Another very common reason is heredity and hormonal balance. Thus males who produce testosterone are likely to suffer from baldness, because of having hereditary genes predisposing to it. If a man suffers from baldness which is genetic, it’s not necessarily caused by hair loss. Usually his body is unable to produce new hairs. And if new hairs don’t replace the dead ones, a person is growing bald.  The signs of the genetic baldness in men are hair thinning around the crown of the head, bald spots and hairline which is receding. The bald patches on the beard or on the skin of the head are signs of hair loss development. Besides, there’s a risk of being infected with ringworms – another hair loss cause – among those, visiting beauty salons and barber’s. One of the most common types is alopecia hair loss, caused by Androgenetic Alopecia. There’s a risk for any person to suffer from hair loss on the scalp, body hair, eyebrows and even eyelashes. What is more, teenagers often suffer from diseases hair loss or hair loss due to eating to little or adhering to a poor diet. Still, the hair loss among teenagers is temporary. Another hair loss cause among teenagers can be thyroid disease, some medications or skin diseases. Trichotilloomania also results in hair loss. Another very simple reason is wearing hairstyles, which produce too much tension. Any chemicals applied to your hair also increase a risk of hair loss.

So, normally a human loses up to 100 hairs a day. A normal lifespan of hairs include the growth, the rest period and death, leading to coming out. A single hair grows at only 6 inches a year. Protein is essential for hair, as it participates in a normal new hair production. A person can suffer from diseases hair loss, caused by thyroid disease, cancer, lupus, and kidney or liver disorders. Hair loss can also be caused by taking some medicines, such as Lithium, or diet pills containing amphetamines. Chemotherapy creates a great risk of hair losing. Another common type is alopecia hair loss, which is often caused by Alopecia Areata – a skin disease, which causes hair loss on the skin of your head and other places of your body.
